Afromosia
Afromosia Wood is known for its beautiful coloration, which ranges from golden to darker brown, gradually turning to a deep, rich, walnut-like color.
Afromosia has golden brown heartwood, and its sapwood is pale. Its grain is interlocked. It has high natural durability and low dimensional movement in service. Its Supply is very limited and closely controlled. When wet it may stain in contact with iron. Afromosia is regarded as an alternative to Teak. It's very hard, heavy and strong.
Available Thickness: 2" (50mm).
Works well with hand and machine tools, finishes cleanly, turns satisfactorily, good gluing, moderate steam-bending properties. Sawdust reported to be eye irritant, good ventilation needed.
It is very durable regarding decay resistance and is also resistant to termites and other insects.
